2:23Now PlayingMaha Vikas Aghadi has announced a new rural development scheme in Mumbai named after Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) president Sharad Pawar. This is done as a gift to felicitate Pawar's chief contribution in forming the government in Maharashtra. Pawar will turn 80 on December 12. The scheme will be implemented under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act 2005. The state government says this will not bring any kind of economic burden on the government. The new scheme is said to be a modified version of the existing act. It will include employment generation for water conservation projects. This gift reflects Pawar's importance in the Maharashtra government.
