A number of infrastructure projects in Maharashtra are getting caught in the political battle that is ongoing. The most recent of the projects is the Mumbai-Ahemdabad bullet train project. The civic body, which is run by the Shiv Sena handed over the draft proposal, which has now been rejected by the Thane Civic body. The proposal to allot land for this bullet train has been junked by the Thane civic body and this is being rejected for the third time. The reason that has been cited is 'poor compensation proposal' to hand over the land. Prior to this, the metro car shed project has also seen hurdles from the BJP government.
We have been opposing the Mumbai-Ahmedabad Bullet train project even when we were in power with the BJP. Metro is a necessity of the common man, states Dr. Manisha.
