5:55Now PlayingOn Tuesday, the Union Health Ministry said stakeholders at the Centre and states were prepared to introduce the mass immunisation programme against Covid-19 within 10 days of obtaining approval of the vaccines.
However, the decision to carry out the largest adult vaccination campaign in India will be taken by the central government, it said.
On Sunday, two vaccines, Covaxin, developed by Bharat Biotech with the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), and Covishield, a version of Oxford AstraZeneca's AZD1222, produced under licence by the Serum Institute of India, obtained regulatory approval for limited use in emergency situations.
