While the country is already reeling under the threat of the third wave, the second wave of the COVID crisis has wreaked havoc, leading to an acute shortage in medical facilities in several states. Several hospitals in the country have raised SOS alarm time and again citing lack of oxygen shortage, and on the other hand, state governments are now forced to shut several vaccination centres, citing shortage of vaccine. The policies continue to change which is now only leading to chaos and confusion for the citizens. Earlier today, a government panel has decided to increase the gap interval between two vaccine doses of Covishield to 12-16 weeks. While the states are now asking the Centre to procure vaccine, there seems to be misery for the common people.
How can the states be expected to buy vaccines at 3-4 times the price? The Central govt is trying to run away from responsibility and that is why we are in this mess, says Congress' Rohan Gupta.
