1:22Now PlayingPrime Minister Narendra Modi introduced the new mode of e-payment, e-Rupi. In a major boost to the idea of Digital India, a new digital payments mode, e-RUPI, was launched under the National Payments Corporation of India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI). E-RUPI is a cashless and contactless instrument for digital payments. It acts as an e-voucher based on a QR code or SMS string, which is delivered to the mobile phones of the beneficiaries. It can be used without having access to the internet or payment applications.
This will be another addition to India's shift towards digital payment methods. He added that this should be considered as a coupon that the government can pass on to citizens.
