The authors warn that there is still time to avoid catastrophic warming this century, but only if governments all around the world quit burning fossil fuels as soon as feasible. The warning to world leaders is more urgent and unmistakable than it has ever been. The earth’s temperature has increased by 1.1 degrees celsius and heat waves that are normally expected every 50 years are seen every decade or so.
