According to official sources, the number of flood-affected villages in the state went up to 605 in 24 districts. The Prime Minister and Chief Minister have Varanasi under their parliamentary constituency, and so the status of relief is being looked after by the PM himself. PM Modi assured all possible help to the flood-affected people, as the Central Water Commission said the water level in the Ganga was rising continuously in Varanasi.
