Vinesh was suspended by the WFI for not staying and training with her Indian teammates and for wearing a singlet of her own sponsor instead of the official one provided by the Indian contingent. Vinesh was eliminated from the Tokyo Games after a stunning quarter-final defeat. Vinesh highlighted her physical and mental struggles throughout the Games when she was without the services of her personal physiotherapist, a day after her suspension.
