1:22Now PlayingOrange alert has been issued for south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh as cyclone Gulab that originated in the Bay of Bengal is set to hit the coast and near interiors off the eastern coast of India. The cyclonic storm Gulab over the west-central Bay of Bengal moved nearly westwards with a speed of 10 kmph during the past 6 hours and lay centered at 5:30am about 270km east-southeast of Gopalpur, the Met department tweeted on Sunday.
It is likely to make landfall between Kalingapatnam and Gopalpur. 18 NDRF (National Disaster Response Force) teams have been deployed to carry out precautionary and post cyclone measures. Army and Navy along with Ships and Aircrafts have also been deployed. Extremely heavy rainfall and wind warning has been issued. Fisherman have been called off.
