15:18Now PlayingThe Shiv Sena, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), and the Congress' Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance said on Monday that the statewide bandh (shutdown) called in response to the violence in Lakhimpur Kheri was a complete success, and that people have expressed their outrage at the farmers' deaths. The bandh impacted commuters in Mumbai and its surroundings during morning rush hour, when buses and trains were suspended and most stores and commercial establishments remained closed. On October 3, eight people, including four farmers, died in Lakhimpur Kheri. Farmers claim that a vehicle belonging to Union minister Ajay Mishra's son Ashish ran over some protesters returning from a sit-in over the Centre's farm legislation. Ashish Mishra was detained by the police on Saturday night.
