The government has warned the citizens of the looming omicron threat, stating that 'omicron is spreading faster than the delta variant.' Now, the latest tally sums up to 109 cases so far with 8 fresh cases reported in Maharashtra. Out of these fresh eight cases, six patients are from Pune, one from Mumbai, and one from the Mumbai Neighborhood Kalyan Dombivali. The government has discouraged all non-essential travel, suggesting that if the outbreak matches the levels of that in the UK, the daily case count in India might rise to 14 lakhs per day. Earlier, the government had announced that it is very likely that this new omicron variant will outpace Delta, given the rise of omicron cases in India.
