The presentation will be ongoing. Health Secretary along with a few officials are supposed to be giving this presentation to the Election Commission of India, to decide whether or not the polls should be shifted in the wake of the growing number of omicron cases. The move comes ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in five states, amid concerns of a rise in the Omicron variant of coronavirus. Earlier, the Allahabad High Court had appealed to the poll body to defer the polls in UP by two or three months until the Covid situation becomes feasible. The court had warned that the situation could spiral out of control like during the second wave of the pandemic.
