This incident occurred on the afternoon of January 1st when the security forces launched this operation and later the police forces tweeted that one of the militants was killed. The army operation was underway in the woods of the Kupwara region, a frontier district that borders Pakistan. Earlier, the army's GOC had stated that they had input on a possible infiltration during the winter time.
