6:44Now PlayingSushmita Dev, a member of the Trinamool Congress, said on Sunday that when the Standing Committee on Education, Women, Children, Youth, and Sports takes up the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill, she will make sure that all opinions are heard. She did say, though, that she wished there were more female MPs on the committee. Surprisingly, the TMC's Rajya Sabha MP is the sole female member of the 31-member parliamentary group that will now examine the bill to raise the legal age of marriage for women. During the just finished winter session of Parliament, the Prohibition of Child Marriage (Amendment) Bill was introduced in Lok Sabha. However, the bill was sent to the Parliamentary Standing Committee.
