Out of a total of 60 seats, 38 are in the fray as the Kangpokpi, Churanchandpur, and Pherzawl undergo polling today. The hill state will choose its fate for the first phase of assembly elections. The second phase will be held on March 5th. The Bhartiya Janata Party faces a multi-cornered fight while seeking to retain power as the competition is tough the state with Congress banking on its 6 party coalition to reduce the Biren Singh government in the polls. The youth unemployment percentage is at 44 per cent in the state. According to the ECI, around 20 lakh voters are eligible to cast their choice in this election.
