In their letter to the Commissioner of police, the mayors have written that the religious beliefs and sentiments of devotees get hurt when they come across a meeting shop or even the small of the same. The mayors have requested to keep the shops closed during the 9 days of the festive season which is scheduled to end on April 11. This is expected to rage another controversy since the demand comes at a time when a similar row has erupted down south.
