The agenda of this meeting is likely to be the reduction in Value Added Tax(VAT) over petrol and diesel, and rising COVID-19 cases in the state. This meeting comes after the PM's virtual meeting with the chief ministers of the states on Wednesday. PM Modi has asked opposition states to reduce the VAT rates in the "national interest" to help the common man and engage in the spirit of cooperative federalism. This meeting was earlier scheduled for Wednesday itself but later on rescheduled for today. Meanwhile, the Maharashtra government asked the center to make petroleum under GST.
