Police patrolling is being done as one group has announced 'jail bharo'. The shops in Kanpur are mostly shut today. Earlier, a violent clash broke out between two communities over a market shutdown in Kanpur. So far, 29 people have been arrested and the 6 mobiles have been recovered. Hayat Zafar Hashmi, who has been recognized as the key conspirator behind the Kanpur violence, is a former Secretary of the Youth Congress. He is very active on social media, and he has also exchanged images with Imran Pratapgarhi, a young Congress leader.
