Recently, clashes had also broken out between the local residents of Rajeev Nagar and Nepali Nagar and police over the anti-encroachment drive. A total of 14 bulldozers demolished around 90 illegal concrete houses which were allegedly constructed on the government lands. One of the protestor says, “If their structures were illegal, how could the government have provided electricity connection and collected municipal taxes from them regularly?”
