3:09Now PlayingAt least 15,000 “Porakarmikas” or civic workers on Friday began an indefinite strike in Bengaluru, demanding their jobs be made permanent and better salary to take care of their families. They want their contractual employment to be terminated and want permanent employment. These civic workers are the very backbone of every city corporation in Karnataka and especially Bengaluru which houses over 12 million of the estimated 70 population of the state.
The strike has entered it's 4th day today has partially affected the waste management in the Bengaluru city, roads in the IT hub of the country are filled with heaps of garbage, the citizens have urged the state government to act fast as the inconvenience that is being caused by the strike is intolerable.
