Consumer price index (CPI)-based retail inflation was 7.01 percent in June, above the Reserve Bank of India's (RBI) tolerance limit for the sixth consecutive month, according to official statistics released on Tuesday. In May, the inflation rate was 7.04 percent. The Russia-Ukraine conflict's spike in global commodity prices as well as the high price of crude oil have put inflation beyond the RBI's upper tolerance limit of 6%. According to NSO data, the food basket had inflation in June 2022 of 7.75%, down from the previous month's 7.97%. From 18.26% in May, the inflation rate for vegetables decreased to 17.37% this month.
