as posted by the channelJournalist Mohammed Zubair has petitioned the Supreme Court to vacate six first information reports (FIRs) filed by the Uttar Pradesh police in response to his tweets.
The petition also challenges the formation of a Special Investigations Team (SIT) to investigate the cases. Two of the six cases have been filed in the Hathras district, with one each in Sitapur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Ghaziabad, and Muzaffarnagar.
According to Bar & Bench, if the FIRs cannot be invalidated, they should be combined with the FIR in Delhi, where Zubair was detained initially. In each of the six cases, the journalist has also requested temporary bail.
