as posted by the channelAfter being attacked by protesters earlier this week, the Sri Lankan Rashtrapati Bhavan in Colombo was vandalised, with the interior and furniture being damaged. After the demonstrators had evacuated completely from the area, forensic teams examined the damage done inside the Presidential Palace. In fact, Gotabaya Rajapaksa escaped from the Palace when protesters stormed it a few days earlier. In this case, the forensic team is currently evaluating the Presidential Palace and determining the extent of the damage. Ranil Wickremesinghe was sworn in as interim President by Chief Justice Jayanta Jayasuriya, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office. On Friday, Gotabaya Rajapaksa's resignation was formally announced by the Speaker of the House.
