He was serving as the interim president after Gotabaya Rajapaksa resigned amid the economic crisis. With 134 votes, Ranil will hold the post of President. He defeated Dullas Alahapperuma who was also in the fray and got 82 votes, and leftist front's leader Anura Dissanayake got only three votes. The six-time PM, Wickremesinghe, was backed by the Rajapaksas' SLPP, the largest body in the 255-member Lanka parliament. Watch for more details!
