3:10Now PlayingThe Supreme Court reiterates that religious and linguistic minority status must be determined at the state level, that it has been the law since 1957, and expresses reservations about hearing a PIL seeking to designate Hindus a minority in places where they are outnumbered by other communities. As the Hindus were denied the minority status the supreme court will be taking up the matter for hearing in the first week of September.
On July 18, the Supreme Court urged the petitioner to provide a real example of a situation in which Hindus, although having a tiny number in a certain state, were denied the legitimate status of minority.
