3:55Now PlayingOn Monday, the Supreme Court will hear a number of appeals contesting the Karnataka High Court's decision upholding the state government's ban on hijabs in classroom settings. Tomorrow, the new Chief Justice of India UU Lalit's first working day, the appeals will be heard by a bench of Justices Hemant Gupta and Sudhanshu Dhulia. The petitions were previously brought up before a bench led by the former Chief Justice of India, NV Ramana, on a number of occasions for an urgent hearing, but the case was not scheduled for hearing. The Karnataka government's order directing strict enforcement of the uniform rules for schools and colleges was challenged in the appeals filed with the Supreme Court.
