Prof. M. Jagadesh Kumar, chair of the UGC, reaffirmed on Friday that universities will only consider the normalized scores of CUET-UG candidates when making admissions decisions. Prof. Kumar reiterated it in a statement after numerous students expressed dissatisfaction that, despite doing well, their normalized scores were significantly lower than their "actual scores based on the answer keys." The student's percentile and normalized marks for each subject are both included on the CUET score card. Percentiles show how a student performed in a group of students who took the test during a particular shift in a particular subject. Both could have received similar marks if judged solely by the answer keys, but only after using the normalization formula.
