The governor was charged by the chief minister with seeking to override the authority of the legislature and acting in a way that put him above the judiciary. Arif Mohammad Khan, the governor, declared that if Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan could show that Raj Bhavan had made illegitimate appointments, he would resign from his position. "CM needs to explain my role in governance. I never abused my power in any way "he said.
