4:17Now PlayingFormer Kingfisher Airlines CEO and wanted businessman Vijay Mallya's attorneys have informed a Supreme Court Division Bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and Hima Kohli that they are unwilling to represent Mallya because "he is not replying and is not traceable." They stated that despite contempt proceedings, he is not showing up in any Indian court. Mallya's appeal against the Karnataka High Court's decision to refuse his request to reinstate his appeal from the Debt Recovery Appellate Tribunal (DRAT) was being heard by the Supreme Court. Mallya was required by DRAT to deposit Rs 3,101 crore within the allotted time. In this respect, his appeal was denied. In a contempt case, the Supreme Court sentenced fugitive businessman Vijay Mallya to four months in prison in July of this year. Mallya was charged in a bank loan default case involving his defunct Kingfisher Airlines that included over Rs 9,000 crore.
