On the Red Fort attack of December 22, 2000, three army personnel of the seventh Rajputana Rifles were Killed. The apex court has reaffirmed the death sentence awarded to him by the trial court, Delhi High Court, and another bench of the Supreme Court in 2014. Supreme Court has upheld Ashfaq's death sentence, and he was found guilty of Murder, criminal conspiracy, and raising war against India.
