6:17Now PlayingOn Monday, the Supreme Court is expected to rule on a number of appeals contesting the constitutionality of the 103rd Constitutional Amendment, which grants members of the economically weaker sections (EWS) a 10% reservation in admissions and government employment. The case would be decided by a five-judge Constitution bench, led by Chief Justice Uday Umesh Lalit. After hearing arguments from a number of experienced attorneys, including the former Attorney General K K Venugopal and Solicitor General Tushar Mehta, in a marathon hearing that lasted six and a half days, the Supreme Court reserved its decision on September 27 regarding the legal question of whether the EWS quota violated the fundamental principles of the Constitution.
