2:30Now PlayingA CBI Special Court on Wednesday sentenced Trinamool Congress leader Anubrata Mondal to 14 days in jail custody in connection with the cattle smuggling scam, dealing a severe blow to TMC chief Mamata Banerjee. Mondal was brought before the special CBI court in Asansol today after being nabbed in the cattle smuggling case. His CBI detention of 14 days expires on Wednesday. The CBI claimed to have discovered Mondal's direct involvement in the cattle smuggling scandal, prompting the investigation agency to go and arrest the TMC leader on August 12 at his Bolpur residence. Earlier today, the Birbhum district president declared that he wants the CBI to look into a threat letter sent to a judge sitting in the Asansol special CBI court who is hearing the case against him for allegedly smuggling cattle.
