Do you own 100 heads, as Ravan does?" said the veteran Congressman added, eliciting cheers and amusement from his crowd. The BJP urged Gujarati voters to avenge the insult by voting against the grand old party in the Gujarat Assembly elections, accusing Kharge of repeatedly "insulting Gujarat's son." Sambit Patra, a spokesman for the BJP, claimed that Kharge's reference to PM Modi as Ravana reveals Congress's ideology. He has also received insults from Congress leaders in the past. Sonia Gandhi used to refer to the Prime Minister as "maut ka saudagar" when she was the leader of the Congress (merchant of death). Subodh Kant Sahay, a former federal minister and leader of the Congress, had declared that "Modi will die Hitler's death.
