Post Mr Bachchan's comment, both BJP and TMC have sought to appropriate his remark. The first salvo came from BJP IT chief Amit Malviya. Malviya highlighted the point Mr Bachchan made the remark with Mamata Banerjee on the dias. He said Mr Bachchan's words were like 'holding a mirror' in front of the West Bengal CM. He accused Mamata Banerjee of 'tarnishing the image of West Bengal'. Malviya also added 'India witnessed the bloodiest post-poll violence under Mamata's watch'. Reacting to Malviya's statement TMC’s Mahua Moitra reacted. TMC MP said she 'wish BJP would hire a Troll In Chief. Mahua referred to Amitabh Bachhan as 'Bengal’s "jamai"'. She said Mr Bachchan 'knows the soil of his 2nd home is the land of the free & home of the brave. She further added that Mr Bachchan chose the platform to denounce BJP's boycotts and ban on the arts.
