Joshimath has been declared a ‘sinking zone' due to ongoing land subsidence, with several homes and roads developing cracks in recent days, forcing residents outside and causing fear. Taking stock of the situation in the popular pilgrimage site, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has directed that all ongoing development work in the area be monitored, while immediate relief and rescue of residents affected by the Joshimath landslide and subsidence be provided. The guest for this episode Soumya Dutta (Co-convener, SAPAC) said, "The base of Joshimath town and the roads are on rubble because of which any construction work should be done carefully".
