2:11Now PlayingOn Friday, members of the Panchamasali Lingayat group demonstrated in front of the residence of Karnataka chief minister Basavaraj Bommai in protest of the "lack of clarity" in the quota process for them. Under the Other Background Classes (OBC) category's 2A part, they have been demanding reservations. The protest leader and seer from Kudalasangama Peetha, Jagadguru Basava Jaya Mruthynjaya Swamiji, reminded CM Bommai of his pledge to provide the community the proper reservation by "swearing on his mother." The protest took place in response to the Karnataka High Court's stay ruling on giving Lingayats and Vokkaligas, another dominant minority in the state, separate OBC categories in education and government jobs. In the state, there are four OBC classifications depending on economic, social, and educational status: 2A, 2B, 3A, and 3B.
