BK Hariprasad, the leader of the opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council, called Anand Singh, a minister who quit the Congress in 2019, a "prostitute" for leaving the party in less than a year after being elected to represent the Vijayanagara (Hospet) constituency.
Anand Singh was the first of the 17 MLAs to resign from their positions and join the BJP, leading to the collapse of the Congress-JD(S) coalition government and the BJP's eventual statewide election victory.
