5:30Now PlayingElection dates for the Nagaland, Meghalaya, and Tripura state assemblies will be announced by the Indian Election Commission today. At a news conference in Delhi at 2:30 PM today, the election authority will reveal the dates for the three northeastern states' elections.
The terms of the three Assemblies are coming to an end in March on various days. The current Nagaland Assembly's five-year term ends on March 12, although the terms of the assemblies of Meghalaya and Tripura conclude on March 15 and March 22, respectively. The three northeastern states were visited last week by a team led by the Chief Election Commissioner to assess election readiness. The CEC convened a number of meetings after the visit to examine the polling timetable in the three states.
