8:25Now PlayingIn this episode of Mirror Metro, the host Shreya Dhoundial will be discussing how the Army has started the selection process for female officers for Colonel-level command positions, which have traditionally been held by male officers. The Special No. 3 Selection Board for Women Officers is reportedly being held from January 9 to January 22 in order to promote women officers from the level of Lieutenant-Colonel to Colonel. This results from a ruling by the Supreme Court in 2021 affirming a prior ruling awarding women officers permanent commissions as well as leadership positions in all arms and services other than combat. A few panelists join us. “Women will be responsible for an entire unit, they will be commanding officers," says Lt Gen Syed Ata Hasnain (Retd) Defence Analyst as he shares his view on this historic first for Army.
