2:18Now PlayingOn January 27, Mumbai Airport Customs seized 8.3 kilograms of gold in the form of wax, valued at Rs 4.14 crore, from 11 foreign nationals traveling from Sharjah to Mumbai. The gold was concealed within their body cavities. The passenger from Dubai was apprehended. Mustafa (30), Shameer Ali (31), and Abdul Rasaq (31) of Tirur were identified as the accused (39). They made an attempt to smuggle the gold in the form of a capsule. There have been reports of asset seizures in recent months. The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Mumbai zonal unit, busted a gold smuggling syndicate on Monday. During a raid at a workshop in Kalbadevi, the agency seized approximately 30 kilograms of gold with an estimated value of Rs 21 crore, as well as Rs 20 lakh in cash, and made an arrest. The Customs Air Intelligence Unit at Cochin International Airport detained a passenger in early January who attempted to smuggle in gold weighing 432.90 grams and valued at Rs 20 lakh.
