Nirmala Sitharaman, Finance Minister, delivered her budget speech and made one of the most significant announcements. Under the new tax regime, she announced an increase in the income tax rebate maximum from Rs 5 lakh to Rs 7 lakh. In her speech she stated that, "This Budget aims to build on the previous Budget's foundation and the vision for India@100. We foresee a thriving and inclusive India in which growth benefits all areas and citizens, particularly our youth, women, farmers, OBCs, Scheduled Castes, and Scheduled Tribes. The world has recognised the Indian economy as a "bright star" in the 75th year of our independence. Our current year's economic growth is expected to reach 7%." Listen In!
