In a series of developments, atleast 2789 people have been arrested by the cops for violating the Child Marriage Act. As per reports, several men have married girls under 14 years of age, thereby violating the laws. Over 4000 cases have been filed in the matter and the police are conducting multiple rackets to identify all such people who are engaged in heinous crimes like this. Meanwhile, a political row has also erupted over the matter. Speaking on this, Priyank Kanungo, NCPCR Chairperson said, “It's not Child Marriage alone, there is trafficking involved as well. A 12-year-old can't have any consent in marriage. It's institutionalised rape.” Watch to know more!
