That's because these are some of the safest banks in the world. But are they really? The last two weeks have shown that the most decisive thing in banking is confidence. It was a crisis that had been predicted. In the US banking system a week ago, everything was in order. Three banks have failed since then, with Silicon Valley Bank being the most significant. Due to the seriousness of the situation, US regulators have used "exception" terms from their playbook to cover deposits that weren't previously insured. They believe it will calm the panic and stop the spread of the illness. All regulators must have the same aspirations given the size and importance of the American financial sector.
