Spot Airline Fares Soar This Summer | Did Airlines Reject Self-Regulate Request? | The Urban Debate

In today's episode of The Urban Debate, host Shrey Dhoundial discusses soaring airline prices. The air fares for emergency fares for the economic class are skyrocketing, and the airline industry is trying to pass the buck on Go First's insolvency and the high demand during the peak summer travel season. If a person books a flight from Delhi to Mumbai today, the price ranges from Rs. 22,000 to Rs. 57,800 on the very same day. Meanwhile, a trip to Goa from Delhi may cost a person from Rs. 19,800 to Rs. 29,900. The government airlines held a meeting on Tuesday, June 6, 2023. The meeting was to check on the soaring air prices. Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia chaired an important meeting with airline representatives today. The government requested that the airlines decrease the fare prices so that they could be affordable for most of the citizens. But despite the Aviation Minister’s stern warning, airfares continue to soar in key travel sectors.
