The caveat was submitted, according to the Supreme Court's website, on July 7, the same day the Gujarat High Court issued its ruling in the case involving the 'Modi' surname insult. It should be mentioned that on July 7, the Congress party declared that they would petition the Supreme Court to review the Gujarat High Court's ruling. The former Congress president was found guilty of slander in March 2023 for reportedly saying that "all thieves have the Modi surname" during the campaign for the 2019 elections.
