The award, which comes with a souvenir and citation, has been given to PM Modi "in recognition of his supreme leadership and for reawakening the feeling of patriotism among citizens." The event was delayed as Sharad Pawar and PM Modi exchanged greetings. After more than eight years, the two are speaking together on stage for the first time since the latter visited Mr. Pawar's political stronghold of Baramati in February 2015 for an agricultural event. The Prime Minister will launch metro trains during the day to inaugurate Pune Metro phase I's finished portions. He will also lay the cornerstone for homes being built under the PMAY and open the waste-to-energy facility at Pimri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC).
