According to consumer affairs ministry statistics, the all-India average retail price of onion was Rs 30.72 per kg on Saturday, with a high price of Rs 63 per kg and a lowest price of Rs 10 per kg. In its August 4 report, rating agency Crisil warned that onion might be the next tomato, with retail prices reaching Rs 60/70 per kg by month's end.
