2:53Now PlayingTop News | Two people, including NewsClick founder Prabir Purkayastha, were detained by the Delhi Police on Tuesday in connection with an investigation into the portal's foreign funding. In a case brought under the anti-terror statute UAPA in response to claims that it received funding for pro-China propaganda, the Delhi Police raided 30 addresses associated with the online news outlet and its journalists. The processes are still under progress, according to officials. Following the filing of a case on August 17 under the contentious Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and Indian Penal Code, the Delhi Police's Special Cell conducted searches at approximately 30 locations in Delhi, Gurugram, and Noida, which culminated in the sealing of the NewsClick office in south Delhi and the arrests.
