At first glance, a short circuit is thought to be what started the fire. There have been no documented losses of life or property to yet. Notably, this is the second fire of this type to occur in the Chandigarh Medical College in a week. In the wee hours of Tuesday, October 10, a fire broke out on the first floor of Chandigarh's PGI Nehru Hospital. All of the patients were safe when the fire was put out.
