The air quality in the capital region rapidly deteriorated to the 'severe' category on Thursday, leading authorities to implement stage III of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP). The decline in Delhi's air quality began at 8 a.m., with the average Air Quality Index (AQI) at 351. By 4 p.m., it had risen to 392, and by 5 p.m., it had reached 402, marking the first time it entered the severe category this season. By 8 p.m., the AQI had further worsened to 417, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
